Landmark Athletes Participate in the American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure
A team of Landmark employees in Portland participated in the American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure event.
At this event, thousands of people from across the United States came together to bike ride, run, and walk to raise funding and awareness to help fight diabetes. The mission of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) is to prevent and cure diabetes, and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

“I am riding in support of every person with diabetes who pushes themselves to
exercise to triumph over diabetes or mitigate the harms despite all the hurdles.”
According to the ADA, every 21 seconds, an American is diagnosed with diabetes. The ADA has invested over $700 million in research and provides diabetes camps and weekend retreats for more than 6,500 children every year. The ADA provides support and education for the over 30 million children and adults in the U.S. living with diabetes, especially those newly diagnosed with diabetes.
The Landmark team of nurses, physicians, and care coordinators held a yard sale and a chili cook-off to raise over $1,500 in donations to participate in the Tour de Cure, which took place in Amber Glen Park. The money raised for the Tour de Cure goes directly to support research and education for people with diabetes, including type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes.
